One of your report goals should be to avoid having single items (such as a record or conÂtrol) display by itself at the top of a page. An item that displays by itself at the top of a page is called a widow, and it’s not only a waste of paper (if you’re printing the report), but it also makes the report harder to read because chances are that the widowed item belongs with some or all of the items on the previous page. Fortunately, you can force all the elements of a section to display together on one page. You can do this by modifying the section’s Keep Together property. Here are the steps to follow:
- Open the report in Design view.
- Select the section with which you want to work.
- Choose Design, Property Sheet to display the section’s property sheet.
- Display the Format tab.
- In the Keep Together property, choose Yes.
- Close the property sheet.
- Print preview the report to verify that each section is formatted the way you want.
