If your report is only a page or two, you don’t need to worry too much about adding page numbers for the printout. For longer reports, however, page numbers are a good idea because they make it easier for the reader to keep track of the pages. Follow these steps to add page numbers to the report:
- Choose Design, Insert Page Number. Access displays the Page Numbers dialog box, shown in Figure 1.
- In the Format group, activate one of the following options:
- Page N-This option inserts the text Page N on each page, where N is the page number.
- Page N of M-This option inserts the text Page N of M on each page, where N is the page number, and M is the total number of pages in the report.
- In the Position group, activate one of the following options:
- Top Of Page [Header]-This option inserts the page number control in the Page Header section.
- Bottom Of Page [Footer]-This option inserts the page number control in the Page Footer section.
- In the Alignment list, select the alignment you want to use for the page number conÂtrol: Left, Center, or Right. If you select Inside, the page numbers are placed to the left on odd pages and to the right on even pages; if you select Outside, the page numÂbers are placed to the right on odd pages and to the left on even pages.
- If you don’t want the page numbers to display on the report’s first page, deactivate the Show Number on First Page check box.
- Click OK. Access adds the page number controls to the report
- Move and format the page number controls, if necessary.
