Outlook 2007 comes with a new feature called the To-Do Bar that gives you at-a-glance access to the Date Navigator, your next three appointments, and a list of your pending tasks. The To-Do Bar is a welcome replacement for the TaskPad in previous versions of Outlook, not only because it shows more information, but also because it’s far more cusÂtomizable:
- You can change the number of appointments and toggle the display of appointments on and off.
- You can change the number of months shown in the Date Navigator and toggle the Date Navigator on and off.
- You can toggle the Task List on and off.
First, make sure you’re displaying the To-Do Bar by choosing View, To-Do Bar, Normal. The To-Do Bar displays on the right side of the Outlook window, as shown in Figure 1.

Figure 1 Outlook 2007’s new To-Do Bar shows upcoming appointments and pendÂing tasks.
To toggle the three To-Do Bar elements on and off, choose View, To-Do Bar and then choose the element you want to toggle: Date Navigator, Appointments, or Task List. For more customization settings, follow these steps:
- Choose View, To-Do Bar, Options to open the To-Do Bar Options dialog box, shown in Figure 2. (You can also right-click the top of the To-Do Bar and then click Options.)
- Click the Show Date Navigator check box to toggle the Date Navigator on and off. If you leave the check box activated, use the Number of month rows text box to specify the number of rows that the To-Do Bar uses to display the Date Navigator.
- Click the Show Appointments check box to toggle the appointments on and off. If you leave the check box activated, use the Number of appointments text box to specify how many appointments you want to display.
- Click the Show Task List check box to toggle the Task List on and off.
- Click OK.

Figure 2 The To-Do Bar Options dialog box enables you to customize the number of month rows and the number of appointments shown in the To-Do Bar.
The number of months you see in the To-Do Bar is a function not only of the value in the Number of month rows text box, but also the width of the To-Do Bar. For example, if you change the
NOTE
Number of month rows value to 2, you can see two months in the To-Do Bar using the default width. If you double the width of the To-Do Bar (by clicking and dragging the left edge of the To-Do Bar), you can see four months (two across and two down).

Cannot get appointments to display on To-Do Bar. Also the menu of options will not let me change the number of appointments to be displayed. Is this a glitch in Outlook 2007? All appointments displayed when I first installed Outlook a year ago. What happened?
