If you use SmartArt organization charts in your presentations, you can animate the charts to display the hierarchy in various ways:
- As one object-Animates the entire chart.
- All at once-Animates all the positions at once, with slightly different timing for each position.
- By branch one by one-Animates each position in each branch one position at a time.
- By level at once-Animates all the positions in each level, one level at a time.
- By level one by one-Animates each position in each level one position at a time.
Here are the steps to follow to animate a SmartArt organization chart:
- Insert the SmartArt organization chart into a PowerPoint slide. (Choose Insert, SmartArt, click Hierarchy, click Organization Chart icon, and then click OK.)
- Select the organization chart object.
- Choose Animations, Custom Animation.
- Click Add Effect, choose an effect category, and then choose the animation effect you want.
- In the animation list, drop down the organization chart effect’s menu and then click Effect Options. PowerPoint displays a dialog box of options for the effect.
- Display the SmartArt Animation tab.
- In the Group Graphic list (see Figure 1), click the animation option you want.
- If you choose an animation option other than As One Object, PowerPoint enables the Reverse Order check box. Activate this check box to animate the organization chart elements in reverse (that is, from the lowest elements to the highest).
- Click OK.
