If you have a worksheet with many comments, you can delete them by following these steps:
- Choose Home, Find & Select, Comments to select all the cells with comments.
- Choose Home, Clear, Clear Comments. Excel removes all the comments.
A larger task is to remove all the comments from an entire workbook. In Excel 2007, you can do this using the new Document Inspector:
- Choose Office, Prepare, Inspect Document.
- If Excel tells you the document has unsaved changes, click Yes to save the workbook.
- In the Document Inspector dialog box, deactivate all the check boxes except Comment and Annotations, as shown in Figure 1.
- Click Inspect. The Document Inspector tells you it found comments.
- Click Remove All. The Document Inspector removes all the comments in the workÂbook.
- Click Close.

Rather than going to all that trouble, you can use the VBA procedure shown in Listing 1 to delete all the comments in the active workbook.

This procedure uses two For Each…Next loops. The outer loop runs through all the worksheets in the active workbook, whereas the inner loop runs through all the comments in the current worksheet. For each comment, the procedure runs the Delete method to remove it.
