The Case:
Your son has just finished his PowerPoint presentation. It is quite impressive. However, somewhat you feel the objects (pictures, shapes, etc) are still misaligned. Dealing with many objects in many pages, it turns out using the mouse to align them can be very frustrating. Not only you need to align the objects, you also need to place or distribute the object in relation with the others. It took you a great amount of time to put those objects in order. There have to be easier ways to do the job.
Tune Up:
Well, there are some tips you can try.
First of all, if you want to move an object in a minuscule distance, using the mouse can be very frustrating. So forget the mouse and use the keyboard instead. Just select the object you want to nudge and use the arrow keys to move it in the direction you want. Each press of the key will move the object 1/12 of an inch. For a smaller increments, hold down Ctrl while you press the arrow keys.
If you want to align objects particularly in relation to each other in a slide, you can try using guides or grid. Guides are nonprinting straight line, both horizontal and vertical, used to visually align objects. And the grid is a set of intersecting lines used to align objects. Hit Shift-F9 to toggle the grid on and off. In addition, you can also try using one or more guide to arrange objects evenly, with or without the grid turned on. Hit Alt-F9 to toggle the guides on and off. Both guides and grid can make it easier for you to align shapes and other objects.
You can also place or align objects automatically without using a guide or grid. Select the objects by clicking on them while holding down the Ctrl key. Click on the Draw button at the bottom left of the screen, and choose Align or Distribute. Select one of the options in the pop-up menu, and the objects will be aligned or distributed automatically.
